Background Information

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires four to six additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Rethman manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. Rethman practices a full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with over 34 years of experience and expertise in dental implants, wisdom tooth removal, simple tooth extractions, bone grafts, biopsy of oral lesions, pre-orthodontic tooth removal and exposure,  facial pain and trauma . 

Dr. Rethman was in the United States Air Force for 10 years, first as a general dentist, followed by a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and final 3 years as Chief, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at George AFB in California.

Dr. Rethman had a private practice in Prescott, AZ from July 1988, until he merged his practice with Yavapai Oral & Facial Surgery, Dr. Mark Sorensen, in January 2019, and Dr. Rethman continues to work several days a week.

All of our staff members are CPR certified and our surgical assistants are trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.  We strive to provide safe and exceptional care for all of our patients at a fair price.

Dr. Rethman is  an AAOMS Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon.
